You just need to kill a group on 2 goblins first to have access to him (a mechanic and a miner i think). There is also a lone geologist a bit further from the river. The mechanics shoot but their range is not as long as a mage's frostbolt (esp once extended by talent) so if you position yourself correctly you can sheep a geologist, then immediately focus the other one while the mechanic needs to move closer, interrupt the geo and finish him then depending on your hp level and mana either run and come back or re-sheep the geo and finish the mechanic etc.

There are 2 geologists and a mechanic together. Did it as a frost mage level 39 and even at this level I had to be careful and patient and run many times as well as get the usual food buff and dampen magic to alleviate the geologists damage. I observed a drop rate around 30%.Īround 28, 8 the quest is easier. Oh, and like many/most of the quests in Stranglethorn this one's easy for hunters - found it pretty trivial with a lvl 32/33 hunter (admittedly on a non-PVP server, and I wasn't trying for a new land speed record).Ĭomment by kolvirofeluneFocus on the geologists. Just keep an eye out for the shredder's patrol, they can make things irritating. If you either attack them directly in the middle of their zone or while they're at the edge overlapping with a geologist you've already killed, you should have absolutely no probs with aggro spread. however these zones overlap at the edges. While the geologists have a fairly wide ranging patrol area, they still stay within zones.

I find it plausible that you could do this in less than 10 minutes, all you'd need to do is charge the mobs in the middle.

By the time I was killing the geologists right around the foot of the buildings, it was virtually a 100% drop rate. The closer you get to the buildings, the more likely a geologist seems to be to drop. At a guess, I'd say this is true for the outliers all around the camp. Comment by Thottbot- Killing the geologists by the south road is pointless, the never drop anything.
